How can you make your own clay?

There are several recipes for making clay.

The recipes in this article are the safest and easiest ways to make clay from scratch.

Recipe: natural and safe clay

Below we have a general recipe, which is completely natural so that it is very safe for children.

You don't even have to cook it!

It only takes a few steps to make clay quickly. It is done like this.

What Do You Need?

  • 8 teaspoons of flour
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 60 ml of boiling water
  • 1 teaspoon of sunflower oil (or another type of oil such as coconut oil)
  • a little food coloring

This is how you proceed:

  1. First you mix the flour and salt together.
  2. Then you mix boiling water with a little oil and food coloring in another bowl.
  3. Then mix all this together (flour, sweet, hot water, oil and coloring)
  4. Then you can already start kneading! Also add some food coloring if you want richer colors. Sprinkle a little flour on your countertop (or anywhere else you make it) so that you can easily continue kneading afterwards.
  5. Put the clay in a plastic bag, which is tightly closed with as little air as possible, in the refrigerator. Just take the clay out of the fridge if your child wants to play with it.

And in such an easy way you already have clay.

You can make different colors of clay.

And if you just put them back in the fridge after playing, they are very easy to keep.

Super fun for your child, and also very nice for you as a parent.

What parent doesn't want a toy for his or her child that is so safe and convenient?

  • 150 grams of salt
  • 200 ml of boiling water
  • 1 tablespoon of baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon of sunflower oil (or coconut oil / baby oil)
  • food coloring

  • hair conditioner

This is how you proceed:

  1. Mix the flour, salt and baking soda together.
  2. Then add a spoonful of oil to this mixture. Mix everything well together.
  3. Then mix hot water with a little food coloring. Then throw this together with the flour, salt and baking soda.
  4. Keep kneading until you have clay and are satisfied.
  5. Then use a bowl to make the next mixture. Use 1 part conditioner and add 2,5 parts cornstarch to it. Mix this well.
  6. Add the final cornstarch and hair conditioner mixture to the clay. You can estimate how much you want to add. You can always add more if you don't like it soft enough.

Why make your own clay?

There are many benefits to children who can play with homemade clay.

The fact that it is homemade has a number of advantages.

Why should you make clay?

Making clay is a fun activity for your child

Your child will absolutely love making clay themselves.

We already know how much kids love clay, let alone make it themselves!

It is educational for them. They learn to make something themselves and to be creative.

They may be inspired by this and want to make things themselves more often.

Strengthens the bond between parent and child

In addition, it can also be fun for the parent. Seeing your child creatively and enthusiastically gives satisfaction to every parent.

You and your child can also do something together. You can learn and have fun together.

This can also strengthen the bond between you. So super cozy!

Making your own clay is cheaper

It is of course a lot cheaper to just make toys at home with the things you already have in the kitchen.

You no longer have to go to the stores and spend money on new toys.

You can make clay yourself and it is good for your wallet (as a parent you have to think about that too).

Making your own clay is sustainable

Another big advantage is that making clay yourself is sustainable.

As mentioned earlier in this article, you can simply put homemade clay in the refrigerator.

After playing, the clay can be put in the refrigerator so that it has a good and long shelf life.

If your child wants to play with it, just take it out again!

Homemade clay is safe

One of the most important and perhaps greatest advantage is that it is safe.

You know exactly what the clay is made of and what it contains.

This way, as a parent, you can have peace of mind when your child plays with them, even if they do be less than 6 months old.

The first recipe we gave is completely natural. If your child accidentally puts it in his or her mouth, it will not lead to a visit to the emergency room.

Fortunately, because as a parent you already have enough worries.

In any case, you don't have to worry about these fantastic toys!

It makes your child happy and of course it makes you happy too.
