If someone needs to be rescued, the fire department always ready. This, plus the nice fires on the racetrack make this the best emergency services set Vtech.

When the fire engine drives over it, the fires collapse with a fire brigade sprayer with water on the other side. Thus the fire is “just really extinguished”.

Also on top of the barracks there is a fire that can be pushed down when it is put out and there are enough smart spots to drive over for a nice sense of the car, such as through the swinging doors of the house.

What is the Vtech Toet Toet Cars Fire Station?

The Vtech Save The Day Fire Station is a play set of Toot Toet Cars that can be used on its own or together with other sets.

It is a large barracks where both the fire engine lives (or works) and the fire takes place.

There is 1 car with a large ladder with spray on it that makes noises when it drives over certain parts of the barracks with spikes.

There is a hatch that opens and closes, a bell, a turning wheel, a door that opens, a platform that can go up and down, fire that must be extinguished on top of the building and on the slope, and a platform that can be quickly rotates downwards when the car is on it.

What makes the barracks fun?

The theme fire brigade is great fun for children. My son played with it a lot.

From above, the car can jump onto the spiral platform and slide down (like a fireman's pole, but on a platform), and the car slides out again at a speed.

It is one of the largest Tut Toet Cars sets, but still very easy to assemble:

The road pieces at the front fit well with the set so you can go anywhere, but also offer space with the intersections to connect more road piece.

There are not only 5 pieces so it is really just to connect the different parts of the building.

It is one of the nicest Toet Toet sets to play independently. Many others are only fun when you have more.

However, playing will get boring at some point. There's only so much to do at the Barracks.

What are the drawbacks?

The idea that the fire is in the same building as the fire department itself is a bit strange. I myself suffer from this more than my son, so that is not too bad in the end.

Other than that it's a very nice set. The fire brigade pole turns well and the car really drives down the road, a lot better than at the Toet Toet Airport, for example.

The fires on the track are nice, but it makes it impossible to drive up with the car. They can only tilt in one direction to be “extinguished”.

That is difficult for a toddler to understand, so in the end we almost always have it off.

The fire at the top is also well thought out. It's just so loose that I have to operate it myself so it doesn't fall off all the time.

A lot of frustrations here at home…

It is also a pity that the bell does not really work. It kind of rings like baby toys, but it's not really a bell sound.

The most logical alternative to the barracks is the Toet Toet garage from Vtech (reviewed here). It is also one of the largest sets on the market and great fun to play with on its own.

I myself am more a fan of the garage than the barracks, purely because more can be done with the elevator and built-in sounds.

The barracks have no sounds of their own, just the smart points that make the car sing.

The strange choices with the fire on top and on the slope also make the garage a bit more playable without frustrations.

Furthermore, it comes down to your child's interest, helping cars or putting out fires.

Conclusion

All in all a very nice set to play with on its own or to add to your road network.
