Bisphenol A (BPA) is a chemical used to make various types of plastic, including polycarbonate (PC) and epoxy resin (coating).

It is found in many different products, such as electronics, food, receipts, medical devices, but unfortunately also in toys and other children's products.

The replayability is reasonable, especially because they are easy to take anywhere and because you can also combine them later in life. However, they are not very versatile. For example, you cannot play ball games with it. Their structure is the strong point, but because of this they don't really roll. However, it is sturdy material that will last a long time.

What kind of plastic toys do you have at home? Hopefully you are sustainable and generally have healthy toys at home!

Fortunately, many parents have started to follow their green hearts, they only want to be healthy and creative plastic toys without harmful substances for their children.

Unfortunately 90% of the toys in our world are made of plastic. Baby and children's toys made of PVC, which is then softened by chemical softeners called phthalates.

Phthalates have a hormone-disrupting effect and can therefore be bad for your health. Now there are various phthalates, but especially the bisphenol A (BPA) is a very unhealthy one.

Does BPA Have Harmful Health Effects?

There is still a lack of clarity about the effects of BPA on our health, and several studies contradict each other.

Possible consequences of (high exposure to) BPA can be:

• disturbance in the hormones,
• fertility problems
• and a greater risk of cancer.

Small and unborn children can be more sensitive to the effects of BPA because their bodies are still developing. Even little ones can get BPA through breast milk.

It is important to minimize the exposure to BPA for pregnant women, breastfeeding women, newborns and young children.

Baby bottles with BPA have been banned in the EU since 2011, but other baby products with BPA are still sold.

In any case, I advise you to pay attention to the packaging with all the toys you buy!
